JOB TITLE: AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM ASSISTANT
REPORTS TO: After-School Program Director/School Principal
JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide direct supervision and engagement to students in the After-School Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Ability to work with children/students from diverse backgrounds
- Works independently
- Willingness to work on CPR/First Aid Training
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Basic computer skills including use of google, emails, websites.
- Short and long-range planning techniques applicable to area of specialty
- Record-keeping skills
- Oral and written communication skills
- Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To supervise and actively engage children attending the after-school program.
- To assist in the planning of activities/lessons for children that are educational, entertaining, or interest-based.
- To participate in all activities planned for children.
- To participate as a team member with the other assistants.
- Perform all other functions as deemed necessary by the Director or Principal that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor, environmentally controlled and outdoor environment. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises. Will require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment. This position will require working outside during the winter and summer months.

Travel Requirements: (Frequency and Duration)
- Less than 10% out of district
- Daily as needed within district boundaries
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel. Evaluation will be conducted by the Director and/or school principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Classified substitute salary schedule
- As needed
