JOB TITLE: Student Worker/Student Tutor
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or assigned Teacher and/or assigned Director
JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist employees in the more routine aspects of their jobs and carry out assignments under supervision. Duties may vary from clerical assignments in an office/classroom setting to manual assignments in departments involved in maintaining the grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Students must be at least 14 years of age and have completed the 9th grade (no longer eligible past June 30 of their 12th grade year).
- Must be enrolled with OPS and in good standing academically and behaviorally.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Basic computer skills including use of google, emails, websites.
- Short and long-range planning techniques applicable to area of specialty
- Record-keeping skills
- Oral and written communication skills
- Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Data entry.
- Filing and pulling material to establish files.
- Delivering mail and supplies.
- Operating office equipment.
- Assist in the planning/delivery of activities/lessons for children that are educational, entertaining, or interest-based.
- Participate in activities planned for children.
- Participate as a team member with the other student workers and District Staff..
- Perform all other functions as deemed necessary by the Teacher/Director/Principal that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor, environmentally controlled and outdoor environment. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises. Will require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment. This position will require working outside during the winter and summer months.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel. Evaluation will be conducted by the Director and/or school principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Classified salary schedule
- Up to twenty (20) student workers per school year.
- FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
- Contract Days: as needed (not to exceed 12 weeks)
