JOB TITLE:  Family Resource Youth Service Center Assistant

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal/Dean of Instruction or FRYSC Coordinator

 

 REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or GED, along with 48 college credit hours or paraeducator exam
  2. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
  3. Experience working with children, parents, and community members.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 With the direction of thePrincipal/Dean of Instruction or guidance of FRYSC coordinator, the FRYSC Assistant will provide information, make referrals, and assist clients as needed.  Create an environment that welcomes all clients and creates an environment that promotes learning and development.

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  1. Basic computer skills including use of google, emails, websites.
  2. Early learning and successful transition programs
  3. Record-keeping skills
  4. Oral and written communication skills

   

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with the FRYSC coordinator to plan, provide, and implement programs as specified by the approved FRYSC Continuation Program Plan.
  2. Encourages students to set and maintain high expectations.
  3. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  4. Assists with development of program objectives to meet the goals of the FRC/YSC.
  5. Work closely with the coordinator to maintain complete and accurate records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  6. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
  7. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms through appropriate parent teacher conferences.
  8. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  9. Provide referral and networking services to families.
  10. Transport students as needed to various appointments via school board vehicle.
  11. Conduct home visits as directed by the coordinator or Principal/Dean of Instruction/Dean of Instruction.
  12. Attend school, community, or district meetings and trainings as directed by the FRYSC coordinator or Principal/Dean of Instruction/Dean of Instruction.
  13. Maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all students and communicate with coordinator and Principal/Dean of Instruction/Dean of Instruction.
  14. Represents the school in the community effectively and in a positive manner.
  15. Demonstrate a positive attitude and act as a positive role model for kids.
  16. Demonstrate a desire to see all students learn and succeed.
  17. Adheres to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 Indoor, environmentally controlled.  Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises.  Will require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors.  This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment. This position will require working outside making home visits during the winter and summer months.

Travel Requirements: (Frequency and Duration)

  1. Less than 10% out of district
  2. Daily as needed within district boundaries

EVALUATION: 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Classified Evaluation Plan.  The evaluation will be conducted by the Principal/Dean of Instruction or FRYSC Coordinator.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  1. Classified salary schedule
  2. Classified benefits package
  3. FLSA Classification: Nonexempt
  4. Contract Days: 210 days - 7 hours per day
