JOB TITLE: Substitute Teacher

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid Kentucky Teacher Certificate/Statement of Eligibility or Emergency Substitute Certificate (requires at least 64 college hours)
  2. Criminal records check required by state & federal law
  3. Experience working with children preferred
  4. USED ON AN AS NEEDED BASIS.

 

PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
  2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  3. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the locations provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  6. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  8. Is familiar with fire and tornado exit procedures and crisis policies and assists with implementation as necessary
  9. Maintains complete and accurate records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  10. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
  11. Individually and cooperatively with other teachers, supervises pupils in and out of classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  12. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  13. Accepts a shared responsibility for co-curricular activities.
  14. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  15. Provides for his/her own professional growth in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  16. Represents the school in the community effectively and in a positive manner.
  17. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
  18. Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours.
  19. Meets the Standards and Indicators set forth in the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan.
  20. Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel.
  21. Adheres to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  22. Performs all other functions deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law.
